Wintertime on Bass River in Yarmouth, MA. During the summer this river is loaded with power boats and sailboats on their moorings and the channel is busy with boats coming and going. In winter it is a very quiet waterway. You can see the arm of a crane in the background removing docks and floats from the waterfront homes with docks. The docks and floats are removed to prevent them from being damaged by ice flows the ebb and flow with the tide during cold snaps. They also remove most of the navigational buoys during the off season to keep them from being damaged and moved around.
