What Is Cape Cod Made Up Of?
One can not think of Cape Cod without thinking of all the entrancing things which make it up, not merely a funny-shaped hook jutting out seaward from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but sand, and ships, and seas; sailors and whalers and fishes; pines and Pilgrims and pirates; early explorers; the Canal of Cape Cod, and the storms that rage in winter on the Cape’s outer shores.
And then one thinks of the fine beaches, the clear air, the sun-filled hours of recreation; boating and sailing and swimming; fine food that tastes twice as good as anyone ever ate before because now one has an appetite that really appreciates it; sleep that comes from having a mind whose cares and stresses have been left behind in the busy cities and now rejoices in the peace and beauty of the Cape.
These are some of the things that make up the Cape Cod to which so many people look forward to re-visiting year after year; the Cape Cod to which not a small number count on retiring some day; the Cape Cod whose genial people and milder climate and more restful life work like a charm that never fails.
