Player’s Pharmacy, Rt. 6A, East Dennis
I worked at Player’s Pharmacy for a few years when I was in high school. The Dubins were great people to work for. I especially enjoyed talking to Phil Dubin the eldest of the family, who bought the property there at the corner of Rt 6a and Bridge Street when Route 6A was a dirt road. Of all the stories he entertained me with, I remember one thing he said years ago in particular “that Noel Beyle, he doesn’t know squat about Cape Cod”.
Of course Noel Beyle is now a well known Cape Cod historian and has authored numerous books about the Cape, but I still thought it was funny.
This very pleasant air-cooled pharmacy rests near one of the Cape’s very popular summer theatres. You will often find top TV and movie stars browsing around the well-stocked shelves or perhaps you may pass the time of day with one of them while enjoying a refreshing milkshake from the Player’s luncheon counter.
Open 8 a.m. until midnight, it is not uncommon to find these celebrities having a midnight snack. Be sure to stop in and have a cup of delicious fresh coffee before starting home after attending the theatre. You will also find an expert staff on hand to fill prescriptions immediately.
The pharmacy is gone now and in it’s place is a chain convenience store.
