Cape Cod Jack of All Trades

The Cape has seen a great rise in one industry only to be followed by a decline. But with each decline there has been a new rise to replace it.

So it was with the mackerel fishing. There was mackerel aplenty, then before any could foretell, there was none.

Captain Baker of Wellfleet found himself in this state. While cruising about Jamaica he noticed a strange fruit and brought back a cargo of it. Out of this venture rose the United Fruit Company. Captain Baker had bought bananas cheap in the Jamaican Islands and sold them for much in the States.
