Carluccios Cape Cod
The Grand opening of Carluccio’s Deli and Pastry Shop is on February 7, 2011 all day! The new deli and cafe will offer authentic Italian dishes - pizza, pasta, salads and pastries. There will be free Wi-Fi access and varieties of coffees - espresso and cappuccino. The deli will also offer groceries and other produce. Continental breakfast will be served daily. The owner Carlo Perugia will offer free tastings for all customers during the first week of business: February 7-February 14, 2011. The store is open daily, 6:30 am - 8:30 pm.
Cape Cod is not known for its ethnic food. You can find award-winning seafood, delicious pasta dishes and plenty of good pub food, but if you’re searching for something off the map, you’re better off making it yourself.
Well, until Monday, that is.
Monday marks the opening of Carluccio’s, an authentic Italian deli, grocery and café. The owners promise real Italian pizzas, meatballs, lasagnas and pastries. Cappuccino and free wi-fi Internet will be available daily, along with homemade dinners to go.
“We’re just trying to bring the North End to the Cape,” said owner Carlo Perugia, “My father was a chef, right from Italy.”
Most of the food, including the pasta, will be made from scratch and the deli will be shipping in a few items from the North End; bread from Bova’s Bakery and pastries from Mike’s Pastry.
More than great food, Perugia and business partner Vladimir Doklev want to bring in the feeling of the North End; an openness and friendliness that comes with a close community.
“You’d go into a store and people would know your name,” said Perugia. “We’ll be a friendly place. We’re just looking to put out some really good food for some really good prices.”
The deli will also feature an “international day” once a week, said Perugia, when he will whip up foods from other cultures.
