Cape Cod Ma vs Newport RI

According to Google Trends Cape Cod MA lags far behind Newport RI in the number of online searches.

I would think Cape Cod MA is more popular than Newport RI, but I guess the opposite is true.

The Preservation Society of Newport County has been running online advertisements targeting the Cape Cod market for some time now. Their “Closer Than Cape Cod” Google ads often appear on this site.

Maybe the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce should start an online campaign that targets other regional markets. The Hartford, Connecticut and Newport, Rhode Island markets might not be a bad place to start.

Google Adwords offers geotargeting, so specific markets can be targeted by region as well as keyword. So if a web searcher from Hartford, CT types “vacation ideas” into Google, the Cape Cod Chamber’s ad could show right up if their campaign was set up properly.
