Call Them Lucky
The following words appreciative of the Cape came from man “marooned” in the city of Boston during a hot spell of weather one summer many years ago:
Just as all Americans are the luckiest of all people in the land of their birth, so Cape Codders are the most fortunate of the four million citizens of Massachusetts not to mention countless millions in most other states, too.. Believe me, I speak from the heart.
Lacking time from my work, I am exiled from just about the most appealing area of the globe for me, the tip of the Cape. The plight of Phillip Nolan in “The Man without a Country”, who was forced to sail alien seas and forbidden to return to his native land, was only a few degrees more disheartening than mine. Indeed, whenever I see any map of the Bay State shoreline, my nostalgic longing is as insistent as Napoleon’s must have been at St. Helena.
