Big Eats At Eastham
Eastham was incorporated as a town in 1651. In the summer of 1951 Eastham celebrated its three hundredth anniversary. One day, as part of the gala celebration, there was a giant clambake.
Long tables were set up in the open, and seven hundred local and visiting diners sat down and with gusto stowed away the typical Cape Cod dinner. The original settlers of Eastham and other Cape communities would have liked to see them! In numbers, the festive occasion must have far surpassed the attendance at the Pilgrims’ first thanksgiving.
In another ceremony that same year (1951), the town was given a copy of the original deed which was first given to the Town in 1666.
